Ledger.com/Start — Official Setup for Ledger Wallet

Step-by-step guidance to connect, install, and secure your Ledger hardware wallet.

1. Begin at Ledger.com/Start

Visit Ledger.com/Start — the official setup portal for all Ledger devices. It’s the trusted source for firmware updates, app downloads, and setup guides. Avoid third-party sites to ensure your wallet’s integrity.

  1. Open your browser and go to Ledger.com/Start.
  2. Choose your Ledger device (Nano S Plus, Nano X, or Stax).
  3. Download Ledger Live for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
Go to Ledger.com/Start

2. Install Ledger Live

Ledger Live is your command center for managing crypto securely. It allows you to install apps, check balances, send and receive coins, and view market trends—all while keeping your private keys offline.

  1. Run the Ledger Live installer and follow setup instructions.
  2. Launch the app and select “Get Started.”
  3. Connect your device when prompted.

3. Connect and Initialize Your Device

Plug your Ledger wallet into your computer using the provided USB cable. The device will power on and display the Ledger logo. Follow on-screen instructions to:

  • Set a secure PIN code.
  • Write down your 24-word recovery phrase on paper.
  • Confirm the phrase directly on your Ledger device.

Your recovery phrase is your only backup—keep it offline and private.

4. Add Crypto Accounts

After setup, open Ledger Live and install blockchain apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage. Then, add accounts for each asset:

  1. Go to the “Manager” tab in Ledger Live.
  2. Install apps like Bitcoin, Ethereum, or others.
  3. Use the “Accounts” tab to view balances and transaction history.

All transactions must be verified on your Ledger screen before being approved.

5. Keep Your Wallet Secure

Ledger wallets protect your digital assets by isolating private keys within a secure chip. For ongoing safety:

  • Always verify firmware updates in Ledger Live.
  • Keep your recovery phrase offline and never share it.
  • Use a strong PIN and enable passphrase protection for added security.

By starting at Ledger.com/Start, you ensure your wallet uses only verified software and secure connections.
